Outstanding Tutor Award

Nomination Deadline: 3/17/23

Award Description

Tutors provide individualized support that help students gain a deeper understanding of course material, as well as increased confidence and self-efficacy. This award recognizes a tutor that goes above and beyond the job description in areas such as:

• employing effective questioning techniques to identify gaps in knowledge
• providing a positive and encouraging learning environment
• is able to adapt to various learning styles

The Outstanding Tutor inspires students to perform to the best of their abilities and demonstrates a clear commitment to the success of thier peers.

Eligibility

Any GT student, staff, or faculty member can nominate a tutor for this award. Eligible candidates must currently hold an active position with TAS, have completed CETL 2001, and be in their second semester (or beyond) as a tutor.

Outstanding PLUS Leader Award

Nomination Deadline: 3/17/23

Award Description

PLUS leaders plan and facilitate weekly study sessions to support students and professors in traditionally challenging courses. PLUS sessions are designed to be interactive and provide students an opportunity to hone their problem solving skills by articulating and defending their thought process in a group setting. The Outstanding PLUS Leader award recognizes a PLUS leader who

• demonstrates innovation and creativity when designing session activites
• exhibits flexibility to adapt session plans in real-time
• builds a welcoming community
• employs effective time management skills to ensure sessions remain productive and effective.

Eligibility

Any GT student, staff, or faculty member can nominate a PLUS Leader for this award. Eligible candidates must currently hold an active position with TAS, have completed CETL 2001, and be in their second semester (or beyond) as a PLUS leader.

Outstanding Learning Assistant Award

Nomination Deadline: 3/17/23

Award Description

Learning Assistants (LAs) help facilitate learning inside the classroom and work closely with their assigned course faculty member. They are responsible for facillitating content discussions and are able to guide or coach students by sharing skills and knowledge they have already learned from taking the course. In addition, they can use their skills to identify and address student difficulties with course content. 

The Outstanding Learning Assistant award recognizes an LA who

• demonstrates knowledge and clarity when explaining course content
• exhibits flexibility to adapt to student needs
• meets deadlines and tasks from supervisor & faculty member
• builds a welcoming community to students

Eligibility

Any GT student, staff, or faculty member can nominate an LA for this award. Eligible candidates must currently hold an active position with TAS, have completed CETL 2001, and be in their second semester as an LA.

 Outstanding Student Assistant Award

Nomination Deadline: 3/17/23

Award Description

Student Assistants are the face of TAS; serving as the first point of contact for faculty, students, and staff that visit our services. A candidate for the Outstanding Student Assistant award

• possesses a comprehensive understanding of TAS services, as well as all other campus resouces
• is committed to excellent customer service
• exemplifies strong work ethic and professionalism
• is a dedicated team member that is always willing to provide support.

This person exhibits great problem solving and communication skills, and takes initiative to improve day-to-day operations.

Eligibility

Any GT student, staff, or faculty member can nominate a student assistant for this award. Eligible candidates must currently hold an active position with TAS and be in their second semester (or beyond) as an SA.
